He wrote: “12.5 years ago I was in active addiction. Hurting myself and those around me I loved the most. It got so bad that I ended up in the hospital for mental health.

“I’m now 7 1/2 years clean and sober.

“I’ve made a lot of mistakes in my life, but every day is a chance to start anew. Atone for mistakes and grow.

“For anyone who wakes up and thinks, ‘Oh god, not again,’ I promise you there is a way. I’m so grateful to be where I am, I’m so grateful to be sober. I’m so thankful for that.

“Remember, we’re all in the works.”
